Kristiansø - Sassnitz, 9 July 2017

Sixty-two miles to go, waking-up at 5, at sea by 6. No wind until we pass the extremity of Bornholm. A German couple on a X 38 whom we met at Kristiansø is following us and is taking the pictures. Quite rare to see oneself at sea!

Belisama, on engine

The wind gets stronger, around 8 m/s, allowing a nice ride straight to Sassnitz on Rügen island.

Well, I am sure that you have noted that the pictures of Belisama are getting closer and closer... The X 38 is indeed quite faster than Belisama. Eight tons versus 13?

This is the X 38 from the German couple overtaking us on their way to Sassnitz.

Crossing of the cargo ship corridor, with ship speed ranging from 7 to 39 knots (ferry on foil...)
This is the marina of Sassnitz. Not particularly welcoming, but lots of space available in the heart of the season. This is our first experience in mooring between poles, like it is usual in Germany and the Netherlands. Not particularly easy when the boat is not equipped with appropriate side guards like the one used by local boats. 18€ per night for two persons, including electricity. Moor close to the start of the dock as there is only one water point at the start of it.

Te old Sassnitz has a certain charm!

I will be there a couple of days, waiting for a crew. In any case, the mama's clouds are not very inviting for sailing...
