Last week in Rangsta for La Malouine

Brudskär, the island of the bride, is the small island facing Rangsta Brygga, where La Malouine was attached for the past 8 years. Whenever arriving or leaving Rangsta, I always stop there for a minute. This week will be the last week that La Malouine will be placed there, and I will miss the place.

The weekend was extremely busy, as they always are at this time of the year, when preparing a boat for the season. Now, I have two boats to prepare, and both are quite demanding. Below is Belisama in her new homeport in Central Stockholm. You can see the Vasamuseet on the top right of the picture.

Despite having documented as much as I could the way the sails were set, I should admit spending hours figuring out what goes where. Without the help of François, from Cybèle 17, I would have spent days getting her prepared for sailing. Everything is huge on such a boat, and manipulating the main sail is quite an affair unless you know the tricks of the trade: set le lazy jack bag on one side of the boom, drop the sail in it, set the sailbattens in place, place it on the mast... At the end, four good hours to get it all set.

In the meanwhile, I had to take care of La Malouine, whose new crew is arriving this week for taking her back to France over the summer. We set the mast on Saturday afternoon, using the crane of Rangsta Båt Klubb, and it took two good hours to get it up in place. In the morning, I had installed all cushions and kitchen utensils. On Sunday late afternoon, after finishing on Belisama, I rushed to Rangsta to adjust the rigging using a dynamometre and set the sails in place. All done but for the spinnakers...
