To Venezia, 8-10 June

Here we are, finally, as we dreamed we would be one day, when we first visited the place in 2014! Well, It took 10 years, but at the time we were owning La Malouine, a brise de mer 31 based in Stockholm. So it could take that long!

Belisama in San Giorgio Maggiore Yatch Club Marina.

Finally, we made it with Belisama, an OVNI 445, but it still took 10 years from Stockholm :-). Now based in Pula, it took only 12 hours...

The trip from pula was 72 nautical miles, and given the supporting back winds around 8-10 m/s, it took us 12 hours to cover the 78 miles to the anchoring in Burano that we first planned.

Good to be back on Belisama after a very busy year consulting for WHO office in the Middle-East! It appears that I am always displaying a particular smile when I am on-board. Indeed, a great feeling.

Sunrise on 9 June, after departing 3:30 from Pula to Venezia.

The12 hour crossing was uneventful and we anchored off the Island of Burano, as advised by Navily, for a night before showing up at our marina in the grand canal.

Anchoring in Trocello island, just of Burano

The following morning, after a swimming in 26° clean water, we left the place to get to our booked marina in the Grand Canal. Going through Burano was very nice. The painted houses are giving a very impressive and unique view to the place. Not to mention the tilted Church of Saint Martin Bishop (tilted 1.83m/53m height!). Keep your distance when passing by :-).

Burano from the canal

We decided to sail through the canal that appears on the Navionics chart as barely navigable! But seing large passenger boats going through gave us confidence and we were very happy to have done it. At the end it is a very confusing maze of waterways that we only managed using the chart plotter with way up to see what was around us, and Navionics with iPad, north up, to see where we were planning to end-up. In short, a bit stressful, but easily manageable.

Very heavy traffic of "Vaporettos" on the water ways!

We will be three days here, and let you know of our adventures!
