Uvala Kasjuni to Marina Kastela, Split, 16-17 June 2023

Uvala Kasjuni is a very good anchorage in Split, with winds from the north and east. There is a bit of rolling due to the frequent ferry traffic, but it gets quiet at night. There were about 10 boats in the bay when we arrived at 15:30, but all but one had disappeared by sunset. All in all, a very good place to enjoy the Adriatic before heading to one of the 100€/night marinas for a crew change. The Uvala Kasjuni anchorage does not appear in either the Imray pilot book or in Navionics. Only Navily provides input from sailors who have used it in the past and recommend it.

A quiet stopover before Split? Well not quite...
And this is because it is one of destinations for the Split party boats! Today, we have the visit of Delfin, the largest party boat in Split. For 40€, you will enjoy "6 hours on the boat" along with 179 other party goers, enjoying "free welcome shots & vodka gun throughout the day" (quote from the website). In the programme is included a "swim stop in a hidden bay", which obviously is Kasjuni today.

For those of you who do not know what a vodka gun is, see the picture below from a search on Amazon! You can imagine the atmosphere on board and the level of noise pollution for neighbouring boats when they stop for a swim in our bay at the end of a six-hour party cruise.

However, when the party boats and day-trippers are gone, Kasjuni Bay is a good anchorage on the way to Split's marinas, despite a bit of swell from passing boats.

Our crew members Ebba and Theo snorkel their way ashore to explore the area.

On the final stretch to our marina Kastela in Split, we pass the Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries.

We finally make it to Marina Kastela, quay C, berth 50, for a good refill of water and electricity, a change of crew members, and a lot of cooking before the last sailing leg on our way to Pula!
