Torsholm, a supposed guest harbour in Kumlinge, 23 July 2019

Upon leaving Gladalaxen guest ham, we decided to get back to Kumlinge on the east coast, in the guest harbour of Torsholm as indicated on the SXK cruising club pilot book. Tyvär as they would say around here (too bad in English), the big guest-pontoon just disappeared and we had to revert to an old abandoned wooden pier from a factory looking as having closed in the previous century... A good night swinging as the ferries were landing close to us, but overall fine as we wanted to have a chance to visit Kumlinge again since it has so mucho offer...

Kumlinge church.
Torsholm is a fishing harbour on the east coast of Kumlinge and a ferry station. The SXK pilot book indicate that there is a guest pier where one can moor for the night for a fee. To much of our surprise, there is no such pontoon or pier anymore. Just gone, disappeared! We decided to moor on a concrete pier, the one between the two grey buildings on the picture. It is deep alongside the pier, but the swell generated by the many ferries coming around can be a bit annoying during the day. Fortunately, no ferries are coming at night. In conclusion, Torsholm is an opportunity to visit Kumlinge, a must see in the Åland archipelago, if cruising along the east Coast, but not as nice as the marina on the west coast that we visited last year.

Another view from the church.
The Kumlinge church has bee painted in the Middle ages with representation of the bible on the ceiling and walls.  XWe remained as impressed as when we visited it for the first time in 2016 (see post...).

Close to our Troskholm inexistant marina, we find a pool with inviting water lilies, bringing to all of us memories of years spent in Asia... The picture below could have been taken in Angkor or in Bali...

Yet, the old apotek (Pharmacy) on Kumlinge was closed at the time we came by, even though we went during supposed opened hours...
