As part of or summer explorations, we decided to explore the Limfjord with a couple of South-African friends on a weekend where all conditions could be met: none of us four having to work and weather permitting. The ride from Marina Polesana is 27 nautical miles, heading north through Fažana and Rovinj, before heading up the Limfjord.
Our Australian friends were there for a couple of days last year after we met in Umag and they were advising us to visit this place. And we did and understood why...
Lim fjord is called a fjord because it looks like a fjord, but is not resulting from a fjord process involving generating a fjord from glaciers. Even though it became famous as a ford because of Kirk Doublas Vikings movie and the Viking series in Netflix, it never was a real fjord.
On the way to the Lim Fjord from Pula, you have to pass along Rovinj and its magnificent landscape. But do not forget Rovinj as being subject to Nevera, the kind of unexpected storms striking out of the blue to 40 knots of winds and getting 30 boats on shore as it did on June 19 when we got hit by a similar nevera in Šibenik.
