On 9 August 2020, we move from Vinga to Ålborg, an eighty nautical miles ride through the Kattegat. On the way, we meet lots of commercial ships on their way to Göteborg and then the Baltic, but at the same time, we meet a few harbour porpoises, a whale 1.4 to 2.5 metre long, called Marsouiàn in French, quite common on the Kattegat end the North Sea. A very impressive encounter in any case...
But there is more to the Kattegat crossing...
More boats, for sure, including these monster carriers dropping their containers to trucks that will cross Sweden to Kapelskär and then Finland, Russia, Estonia and Latvia.
Here is where we stand with our 2020 season. In orange our last two days sailing, from Göteborg to Vinga and from Vinga to Ålborg, that we reached this morning around 6:30, after a full day and night at sea.

The Lindholm Høje archeological site is located 15 minutes from the city centre by bicyclette. It is one of the major sites in Denmark, and is particularly well preserved for having been covered by sand over the years. It includes more than 700 graves, dating from the 5th century to the 11th century. Most of the tombs are represented by stone ships, but some are organised in circles of stones for women and triangles for men.
