Iniö is one of the last stopover on the island part of the Turku archipelago trail. Sailing here requires a lot of attention given the very many ferries crossing continuously between the islands given the touristic traffic at this time of the year.
A few pictures from the bike ride around the island...
The Maypoles in the Turku and Åland archipelago are permanent and very nicely done. We have seen may of them equipped with such rotating carousels. Vegetation is only added for midsummer.
The Iniö Sophia Wilhelmina church was erected in 1801 and named after the newborn princess.
The church is very plain in its decoration, like most Lutheran churches found on these islands in contrast with those seen along the Swedish cost.
Like in most of the island churches, there is a votive ship, the barque Maria, very nicely done, but without sails.
This is our last stopover in the Turku Archipelago for this season, as we will cross to the Åland archipelago tomorrow...
