Days are getting much longer and with -6°C today in Stockholm, we go to Täby for a walk along the frozen lake. Nordic skis are in the car, but the snow is not good enough...
And we came across a small ice kart marina along the bank...!
The lake is partly covered with snow, but thick enough for enjoying.
One reaches the lake by the summer swimming docks. The ice is always thinner and more dangerous along the bank lakes and, therefore, one should be very cautious for the first 20 metres.
Then we make quite a few encounters on the ice. A few skaters, equipped with their safety line and grips and a few kite skaters (is this how they are called?).
The kite ice skater above is using ice skates while the one below is using freestyle skis with which he jumps and flies (see video above), nicely landing on ice.
This is the ice yacht base. DN stands for "Detroit News", a race sponsored by the journal in 1937 for small one person ice yacht and 3.3 square metres sail. They can reach 100 km per hour on good ice and good steering.
