La Malouine on her way back home - 1 June 2016

This morning, 4:30, at the sun rise, La Malouine departed from Nynäshamn to La Rochelle, her new home port. She goes back there, at the age of 42, nicer than ever.

How she made it to Stockholm at the first place was not that easy to get as the previous owner from whom I bought her in 2008 had no clue! But I found out...

The story is nice. I met Mr Le Guen, the owner of the Le Guen and Hemidy company who constructed her, in Saint Pierre Quiberon in 2009. He remembered selling the Brise de mer 36, with a red hull, to one of his supplier of iron ore in Sweden. They both navigated on it in 1974 upon delivery of the boat. Then, she was placed in Nice, from where she sailed for many years. She was brought back to Stockholm through the canals at an unknown date. The previous owner bought it in 1986, at the age of 18, and I bought it in 2008, at the age of 34.

The final preparation for the return trip was impressive! Four enthusiastic sailors, cleaning her from hull to top of the mast. With the AIS finally working, she is ready to make it back.
Hélène, Thibault, Clément, Marie, fully ready after a full day of preparation.
4:30, start of the engine.
Good sea, good winds to La Malouine! And to follow her on Marinetraffic, check here.
