Crossing from the North Sea to the Baltic through
the Kiel canal took us 7 hours, running the engine at around 7 knots. This is the busiest canal on earth according to its website. Indeed, we will come across quite a lot of boats of all sorts.

Belisama at the lock in Holtenau. Tricky the first time you get in such a lock, as the floating dock is only a few centimetres above the sea level. Even if you attach your fenders to touch the water, they will not protect you to touch the dock!
We came across another tense situation while entering the lock in Brunsbüttel, as a big cargoship along which we were supposed to sneak in was keeping is lateral propeller on full speed to remain steady along the peer.
