Fejan again, on the way up north, 2nd June 2019

After Svenska Högarna, on our way up north to the gulf of Bothnia, we made a stop over in Fejan, the historical quarantine place for cholera, but hoping nowadays for good food and services. Tyvär, Fejan was closed, with workers making new facilities for the season. It will be very nice when completed. A change of scale with what we have been used to in Fejan. Very fine though indeed as the Fejan spirit remains. We managed to bargain a power connexion with some workers for a bottle of wine. Nice for our battery park in need after Svenska Högarna.

Alone in Fejan, or so as kayakists were there, quite frozen...
The Congo house for the chief medical officer of the quarantine cholera station is still there, centuries after it was supposed to be dispatched to Congo for a missionary priest.

There was a strong storm around new year in Sweden. As a result, we got our windmill loosing two blades, and our dinghy getting a large tear from these lost blades, all of which are fixed by now. Below is the trash container  in Fejan detached from the shore by the storm. It has been amazing to see how much wood has been cut following this storm ans still lays along the shore for being picked by some boat during the summer. Ikea will be happy...

The Fejan trash pontoon, detached from the shore by the storm...
The Corsican crew on Belisama for the next couple of weeks...
We were quite impressed by the canvas hotel on Fejan, just next to the marina. It offers fully equipped tents for guests interested in kayaking and exploring (he northern outer archipelago. Very good feeling visiting the place, and good coffee and waffles on the way. A place for whoever is interested in authentic life in the northern archipelago!
