After a year in the Mediterranean, Belisama experienced the high UV levels that led to the destruction of our tender by explosion! and the blowing of the main sail cover and the canopy during a severe episode of Bora winds (see specific post...).
We have bought a new inflatable tender to replace the Sportyack we bought in Toulon last year. The Sportyack was not stable enough as a tender in our waters and we had a few scares. This one is more stable, but bigger (3.30 metres) and hardly fits on the front deck of the Belisama. Let's see how it performs! But we made sure to buy a cover to protect it from UV rays!
Above is the reworked mainsail cover after Bora and the UV bleached out all the stitches! Our on-board sailrite sewing machine worked miracles as usual and in a short weekend we had it back as good as new. But what a job! Now all that remains is the canopy for next weekend...
Finally, I decided to change the mooring lines, and decided to learn how to splice double-breaded lines. Not easy, despite the fantastic You Tube post we identified. But overall a success, looking very reliable.
