The Hitis archipelago, 15-18 July 2018

Leaving Hanko, we have entered the "Archipelago sea", the largest archipelago in the world, with its more than 50,000 islands and islets.

As we are experiencing a highly anticyclonic weather, we take advantage of the solar winds for moving around at the time of favourable winds. The alternance of sea breeze and land breeze allows us to move in the morning around 10, and anchor in natural harbour by mid afternoon. Very quiet evenings and nights, the land breeze only starting early morning because of the very short nights at this time of the year.

First stop is in the Hitis archipelago, the place where there were large vikings settlements. In Rosala, there is a very interesting "Viking village" reconstructed as a open air museum, definitively worth a visit. We spent the night on anchor, and refilled the 500 litres tank of the boat!

From Rosala, we move to Högsåra, a very short ride north. We arrived in Högsåra with 5,000 nautical miles on the odometer of Belisama. Not bad in three years! Long ride with the bikes along the island, with a lunch at the Farmers café, a must on the island. We moored at Kejsarhamn as we wanted to visit the pilot museum there, but we forgot that museum are closed on Mondays! The other marina on the island, Lillbacka Brygga, and the Rumpan bar are more cozy for staying on the island.

On 18 July, we continue towards the north of the archipelago and anchor in Ören for the night. A very nice spot. It has been now more than ten days with temperature around 30°C. We are spending our days and nights swimming in the archipelago, with a water at 23°C. Incredible!
